Job Description

Canonical is seeking a talented software engineer with a passion for developer experience and build tooling to positively impact the workflow of snap and charm publishers. Successful candidates should have interest in packaging formats and automation systems that simplify software delivery. The role involves designing and maintaining Python tools to support the developer build and publication process including tooling for building snaps charms and OCI images. Snapcraft allows automatic delivery of app updates to millions of Linux systems while Charmcraft enables collaborative development and publication of charmed operators on Charmhub. A strong understanding of modern GNU/Linux distributions along with proficiency in Python is essential. Experience with build systems and container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes is required to extend the snap build ecosystem and to work with open-source and commercial projects.
