Job Description

We are seeking an experienced software engineer passionate about Linux systems and hardware architectures to join the Ubuntu Foundations Engineering team to maintain and enhance Ubuntu bootloader stack which is critical for fast reliable and secure Ubuntu systems across all devices and in the cloud. This highly technical role focuses on the boot process which is vital for system stability reliability and security. As a Linux System Engineer you will engage in the architecture design and development of core components for the boot and startup of the Ubuntu Distribution interacting with the upstream community on projects like Grub shim and u-boot. Your responsibilities include collaborating proactively with a distributed team writing high quality code to create new features and contributing to projects such as Grub and u-boot as well as debugging issues and reviewing code. You should possess expertise in development with early boot software and a strong interest in working with non x86 platforms. This position allows the flexibility to work from home with occasional global travel.
