Canonicals Director of Ubuntu Desktop Engineering is tasked with delivering the premier open source desktop experience and developer platform catering to various user segments. This influential position demands oversight of strategy architecture and the roadmap for numerous engineering teams specializing in Rust C/C++ Flutter and Golang. A profound understanding of Linux graphics technology system architecture and security is essential as is a passion for user experience performance engineering and diverse consumer applications that span multiple platforms such as tablets mobile and desktops along with remote computing environments like VDI. The role involves enhancing the overall reliability of Linux on personal computers while developing new desktop capabilities emphasizing performance efficiency and user experience. Furthermore the position requires leadership qualities and a forward-looking vision for open source desktops reinforced by substantial engineering management knowledge particularly in software product development. Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced competitive atmosphere and possess a strong technical foundation leadership acumen and a deep commitment to the future of open source and developer experiences.
